About the Author: Karen Okulicz

Karen Okulicz is the author of "Try! A Survival Guide to Unemployment" and "Decide! How to make any Decision". She was in the medical field for 15 years prior to finding her life's work as an author and lecturer.

Ms. Okulicz knows first-hand about the rigors of looking for work having become unemployed twice in three years. Her first stretch of unemployment lasted eleven months. At the start of her second unemployment she began to "Try!" a different way of looking for work then "just send the resume". During this time more of her friends were unemployed due to downsizing. They called her to ask not about how to put a resume together or how to go on an interview but, how to put a day together and how to keep going.

The "Try! Techniques" were born. These techniques are a down to earth work search approach that is motivational and inspirational. She outlines a health schedule for the day for both the body and mind. A step-by step practical guide that covers the emotional part of being without work or looking for work. "Try!" has an honored placement on Bookmarket.com Hall of Fame.

Her second book "Decide!" sprang from the years of marketing her first book. She would listen to people say, "I can't decide about my future, about my work, about my dreams." She thought it probably was not that they could not decide, they may not know how. Her second book was born, "Decide! How to make any Decision".

"Try! and "Decide" are utilized resources by State and Federal Agencies in One Stops and Rapid Response, College Career Centers, Outplacement firms, Job Corps and in Military Rifs and Spouse programs. "Try!" is usually placed in orientation packets during layoffs. "Decide!" is also finding it's way into Youth programs and High Schools.

Ms. Okulicz has hosted and produced the radio show "Workline". She provides workshops from her books throughout the country and is a continued guest in the media. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. She is working on her third book.
